Android Developers

Well android is just a new world for developers and of course it supports JAVA as it's applications are written in Java but there is there is no java virtual machine in the platform and Java byte code is not executed. As java classes are recompiled into Dalvik executable and run on Dalvik virtual machine.But still J2ME is not supported by android but using 3rd party application it's possible.In development environment it includes a device emulator, tools for debugging, memory and performance profiling, and a plugin for the Eclipse IDE which is quite helpful and remember SDK is also available.

After the release of Android it gained public interest in early stage that's why it's going up and gaining more shares.According to different research companies by the 2nd quarter 2009 android gain 2.8% of world's smart phones market and in the 3rd quarter 2009 it was 3.5% which is quite good.In February 2010 Com Score ranked the Android platform as obtaining a 9.0% of the smart phone platform market share. In October 09 a company predicted that by 2012, Android would become the world's second most popular smart phone platform, behind Nokia Symbian OS.

According to an interview with Eric Schmidt in The Guardian, Android is getting 160,000 new users per day (end June 2010) up from 100,000 per day in May 2010.
