List of Websites Banned in Pakistan

Introduction

This page is to enlist the websites banned by the Government of Pakistan.

Reason for Ban

The following websites were banned after they published unethical and unmoral materials about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SWS). The people of Pakistan were outraged by this act of evilness by the world famous websites.

Facebook

Facebook started a competition of drawing cartoons & illustrations of Prophet Muhammad (SWS). A large number of people online started to condemn the Facebook act, after which the Government of Pakistan quickly disabled the access to the social community website.

People all over Pakistan protested and rallied against FaceBook.

Ban on Facebook is lifted by Punjab Government on June 1, 2010

YouTube

YouTube? is also banned for displaying unethical content about our Prophet Muhammad (SWS).

27th May, 2010, YouTube? site is accessible.

Wikipedia

Wikipedia which is one of the largest information resource in the world, is showing articles and images which disturbed the Muslim ummah all over the world.

Other websites

There are over 300 websites blocked by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), most of these are proxy websites which were being used to access blocked websites.

A good decision

Almost all of our internet users were addict of that website, the most technical people does not have facebook accounts nor they want to. Now these sites are banned and i hope they remain banned and our people will think of doing something productive over the internet.

I agree with you Sunny, these sites are so self centered, what you are doing, what you are wearing and thinking. Not everything is to share, there is a word Privacy as well. Most importantly anyone who does not respect the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SWS) can go to hell and we don't care about them either. They don't need freedom of speech, they actually need freedom to hell.
