Renowned religious and spiritual personality and custodian of Golra Sharif shrine, Allama Syed Pir Naseer-ud-Din? Naseer Gillani, breathed his last on Friday around 2 pm on February 13, 2009 in Islamabad, Pakistan. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon. May Allah elevante his status.

Pir Naseeruddin Shah was from the family of the one of the great spiritual personalities of Pakistan, the grand Shaykh of Golra Sharif, Pir Sayyid Mehr ‘Ali Shah (may Allah have mercy on his soul). Also known as Pir of Golra Sharif. He was the son of late Hazrat Pir Syed Ghulam Muinuddin Gilani (may Allah have mercy on his soul) known as “Elder Lalajee”. Pir Sayyid Naseer-ud-Din? Naseer Shah was a notable Islamic scholar,author, renowned poet orator and Sufi master. He has authored around 40 books on Islam, Quran and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) including Lafz-e-Allah? ki Tahqiq, Quran Majid key Aadab-e Tilawat, Mawazna-e Ilm-o-Karamat?, Kia Iblees Alim Tha, Pakistan men Zalzala ki Tabah Karian and Musalmano k Arooj-o Zawal ke Asbaab. Mysticism was his field of specialization with regard to research in history and religion. Pir Syed Naseer-ud-Din? Naseer was against traditional mysticism and did not feel shy to criticise those who used mysticism as a means of gaining personal goals. He stressed that mysticism should be used as a practical moral and spiritual training for development of personality.

Pir Syed Naseer-ud-Din? Naseer Gillani (may Allah increase his ranks) admired the late Shyakh Professor Hafiz Fatheh Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on his soul) due to the latter’s love for research and knowledge and true practice of mysticism. Pir Syed Naseer-ud-Din? Naseer Shah visited Makkah Masjid and Al-Madinah? Masjid in Leeds on many occasions during his visits to England.

Following the Friday Prayer at Makkah Mosque, Imam of the mosque, Hafiz Asim led a special supplication of ‘Isal al-Thawab for Pir Naseer-ud-Deen? and prayed for his high ranks and special place in Paradise. Hafiz Asim paid tribute to Pir Sahib, saying that Pir Naseer-ud-din Nasser was a great sufi master and an intellectual who strived hard for reviving the ummah. His services for the cause of Islam and ahl-e- sunnah will long be remembered. Due to his sudden departure a deep void within the spiritual circles has been created. May Allah Almighty elevate the status of the departed soul and give patience to the family, friends and followers to bear this huge loss (Ameen).
