Briefing

This tutorial will introduce you the basic functions and features of the website for all members to join and work with us. If you are not already a member, you need to sign up before you can act.

Sign up with the website

Member registration at JOIN is very easy. All you need to provide is a Username (which should be available and not taken by any other member), an email address (which should be yours and working), and you need to write the Anti-bot verification code to confirm that you are a human and can read the code shown in the image.

As soon as we get your request for a new account, we will send an email containing a verification link to activate your account. Make sure your account will not work until you activate it from the email. If you do not have an email from us in your inbox, check your spam folder. If you still can not find it, you need to contact us at help forums. (Link required to send user to help forum).

Member Menu

After you are logged in to the website look for YourName? Menu in the right hand column of the page. An image is shown here of the member menu. Most of the steps below are related to this menu. The menu is featuring:

My Home
User Preferences
Display Photo
My Wiki Page
Messages

You can track all your activity from My Home option. You can control content to display at My Home from User Preferences. Details of some of the important features in this menu are provided in this page.

User Preferences

It includes the detailed options and features of your account. You can provide your Real Name, Country, Website URL. Other options include account privacy, message settings, my home configuration, and most importantly your username and password settings.

Upload your Display Photo

Display picture is one of the fastest way to recognize any member. Uploading your display picture is simple step which will add credibility and trust to your account. If you do not upload a photo a temporary photo will appear.

To get best results with your display picture always upload a square image, i.e. the image should not be a rectangle. More also keep your image dimensions to as low as 100 pixels width and 100 pixels height.

Create your User Wiki Page

In your member menu you have an option to create and manage "my wiki page". This is your personal WIKI page which is attached with your profile. It is just like any other WIKI page on the website. You need to review ((How to use WIKI page editor) to find how you can compose your personal page.
You have the freedom to either keep your personal page locked for no public modifications or keep it open for others to add value. If you don't like any update, you can always roll it back.

All Set to Create More Pages

Now you are ready to work with others at JOIN. You can simply create new pages of your interest or see community pages and add value to them by adding your comments, or more information on the pages. To create a new page look for WIKI Create/Edit bar on the top of the page. Simply type in the name of the page you want to create and if that page is not created yet it will start a new page. Or if the page already exists, it will take you to the page for editing it (if its open for public editing).

You can create as many pages as you like, there are no limits. However you need to follow the community guide in order to create the pages, or otherwise the site admin can block/delete your page. More also we are working for quality content, not massive, so we are more concerned about the quality of pages.

My Ads Revenue

Add your Google Adsense ID here, if you don't have an account with Google Adsense, you can simply sign up for a new one at any time. The advertising program is there, but not activated yet, we want to populate the website before we display ads. More also we do not display overwhelming ads, as our main focus is the distributing the content, not ads.

However a decent advertising program will run at JOIN helping us cover our costs for supporting this website.

Invite your Friends to JOIN you

You can also invite your friends by importing your contact book from Gmail, Yahoo or Msn. Simply send them an email about the activity you are performing and grow your network of friends to empower your pages.
