Before hitting the page create button at the website, please go through these step by step process on building a page successfully.

Home Work

Firstly you need to think about a topic to decide about an article you want to write. Then do internet research, see what others are writing about the same topic, and create the key points of the topic.Collect all reference material via links, youtube videos, RSS feeds etc. and provide them along with your article. It depends what your topic is, however we recommend making it resourceful.

Once you have all the ingredients (data) to build a juicy (full of information and resources) WIKI page. Create content blocks by separating them with headings and write a document in any word processing software. Review, Edit, Review, Edit, do it unless the document is in some good shape to be added online.

If you do not do your home work it will end up in an incomplete page, not making much of sense and hence the admins will not approve it to be published. A WIKI page should follow the community guidelines in order to be published.

Once you have created a draft and it is ready to be published as a page at JOIN, move on to the next steps.

Page Name

The title of the page is page name, for example the title of the current page is "How to create WIKI pages". The title should be short and precise to the subject of the page. All WIKI pages at JOIN have a direct URL to access them.

For example:
http://join.pk/how+to+create+wiki+pages
is the direct URL of the current page, so make sure you do not use any characters other than alphabets and numbers in the page titles. Do not write question marks, exclamation signs and any other characters.

Also do some search engine research before choosing a page title so that you know how people are searching about the topic. This helps you choosing the most appropriate title of the page. Remember a title of the page contains most important keywords for the respected page.

Page Description

Page description appears below the page title for viewers and for search engines its the Meta Description tag. Also within the website, wherever your page link is placed, the mouse over description is the same description you provide here about the page.

Page Body

Paste already created page draft here in the body area. WIKI has its own formatting syntax with which you can give content professional look and feel.

We all have just started doing WIKI editing, so we can learn it with the time. Basic syntax is very simple and also a WIKI help area is available below WIKI editor.

JOIN admins and moderators also help all members to setup pages and format them. At this time simply need to paste content and the moderators will help format it.

After page creation

Once page is saved, its available as following URL:

Now you can ask your friends to JOIN you at your page and add their input in the page or comment on the page.
