What is a Career: -

A career is referred as a persons “way of progress” through his/her life. For a person to shape their career education has always played a vital role. Majority of the people, in fact almost everyone builds their career by obtaining good degrees and then working for others as an employee or start their own business as an employer. There are many careers for a person to choose they can pick up a sports career or music career or even a teaching career. Nowadays a career is considered to be that series of jobs through which one earns money. The careers our grandparents used to pick up used to be static careers. Nowadays people are living in a dynamic career environment where one person can take up more then one career at a time.

What is career building: -

With so many careers to pick up and less time, it has become difficult to be able to choose the right career without proper guidance. Career building is a process where a person works their way thoughtfully to live a successful work life. A person who is aware and conscious of their future career does career building. They can either think, research, or get some help from a career-building specialist.

Who is a Career building Specialist: -

A career-building specialist is a person who tells what they should and should not do about their jobs and also advices which career is best suitable for you.

Who is a career builder: -

A career builder is one who is aware and concerned about his or her own career. A career builder sets goals for a long term and good career in life and thinks carefully before taking any big or small step in life. Choosing a course, college, missing a trip to some language course of interest or going abroad for further studies every move made by a career builder is a step forward deeper towards their goal on their map of life.

Career builders are not any superhuman, they are in fact as ordinary as we are, maybe they did not know what do when they were sixteen or twenty one or maybe twenty five but all this time they did have an idea of what they want to be after a couple of years. And to portray that picture of themselves they thought carefully or went to career-builder specialists for proper guidance or training. Once they had their minds made up and started working on it, every milestone they crossed was a steered them towards their goal(s). You can be careless with your general idea or not able to understand what do you want that’s where different types of career builders come in, it’s never too late to build a career.

Types of Career builders:-

Obsessive career builder: -

An obsessive career builder is such a person who does not take any step without wondering how would it look on their CV’s. Such an attitude also affects a persons personal life, where they are unable to decide whether they should have children or not, should they marry the one they love or not, should they play some sport or not etc. This could lead to ill psychological behavioral conditions and is not advised by any career-building specialist to adopt such an attitude. Who claim that so much concern and over awareness could lead to obsession. Such an attitude for building a career is poor for progress and goal achievement in life. Many people end up not accomplishing goals.

Careless career builder: -

The careless career builders have more or less clear picture of their future careers, they are not able to make a link with their day-to day activities, they are not able to make a long term career decisions or have less long term career inputs in their life and work. Due to this they end up making fatal decisions. Such an attitude is built up due to intellectual laziness or they can’t sit back and give time to make a viewpoint of themselves and their future. They are so wrapped up in the course of events that they fail to connect their current efforts to the big objectives, even if they have planned them. A career specialist here advises and helps such a career builder to come back to track.

Doubtful or reluctant career builder:-

Such people have a career goal and objectives that they wish to accomplish but are in a doubt whether they are on the right path or not to achieve them. Such people need a career advisor more then anyone. Too much doubting may frustrate their career approach and their attitude to their current job. A career specialist assesses them by looking at their previous jobs or steps they have taken because usually such people have taken wrong previous career decisions in life. Very often, these people have initially chosen wrong careers, no matter whether they have brightly been successful in their careers out of pure will and effort. Such people have to sort out their priorities. They are ambitious and hard working and may be able to adopt a complete and successful career change. And a lot of thinking should be done before taking such a step.

Non-career builder: -

These people are unaware of their future or future plans. These people either don’t have a clear preference of a profession or are strongly committed and bonded to some other activity which can be non profitable that they just cant go back and re think about their future career. Such people get aware about their career when they have a family of their own or their family needs them, but at times such awareness can be a bit too late.

Non-economic career builder:-

These are those people who don’t care much about their financial condition when it comes to being acknowledged and getting respect from other people. Such people are usually writers, political, artists, philosophers and social activists etc. If you have enough money to support such non-profit activities then its completely fine but if not then from the career building perspective this is a total failure. A career builder here helps you into getting back to financial reality or helps making your activity a profit one.

Moderate career builder: -

A moderate career builder is considered as an ideal career builder, such a person is does not become obsessed about their career in fact they look back at what they have done time by time for improvements. They set goals and work on small changes to eventually reach their targets. Such are non-hesitant to make an important career change if they get a feeling they are going off track from their long-term plans. Such people also don’t change jobs or industries for a reason of unhappiness. Such people don’t think about going to a career coach because they believe they can do correct decisions for themselves, but if they do consider one then it helps them focus more and get a better reward.

Career Building in Pakistan:-

In Pakistan, Career building is now becoming a important aspect of a persons life,even though the ratio is still less, due to the fact that there are not many educated people in population, and most of them are just running after financial stability rather then career stability even though if it requires them to jump from one job to another in a short span of time or even completely change their career without any proper thought about it.Countries like Pakistan where there are many hard working people requires proper career building coaches and career consultation is required at its maximum so that people understand what they can do in the long run for themselves, their family and their country.Career building is becoming aware between a few in Pakistan and soon or later it will mark its presence.
